Dr. Salah Sadek

Dr. Salah Sadek is the first dean of the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo) and a professor of civil engineering and associate dean (since 2018) at the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA) at the American University of Beirut (AUB). He has extensive administrative experience. Among his current responsibilities at AUB are chair of the MSFEA Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) Accreditation Committee and chair of the Academic and Curriculum Committee. Sadek was formerly chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at AUB (2008-11). He received the AUB Teaching Excellence Award (in 2005).

Sadek earned his BE in civil engineering from AUB in 1984, and his MS and PhD in geotechnical engineering from Colorado State University (1985) and the University of California-Berkeley (1993), respectively. His research interests focus on geotechnical engineering, ground improvement, geotechnical earthquake engineering, alternative/advanced foundation systems, and geo-environmental engineering.
